The robots are coming.
No, they’re not the machine-gun-wielding, mankind-exterminating variety a la The Terminator. Instead, they represent a modern class of machines and systems designed to streamline processes, save time and ultimately, reduce costs, and they’re expected to comprise a $1.5 billion consumer and business market by 2019.Continue Reading

As an entrepreneur, how often do you feel like you're in control of your life? Be honest. I'm writing this post today because I've witnessed first hand the shear chaos that can destroy our lives as business owners. I'm an entrepreneur myself, and I'll be the first to admit that I don't always have my crap together. Can I say "crap" on the blog? Not sure if that make us look unprofessional as accountants, but it's appropriate for today's discussion.
There's a lot of accounting tools out there to help you save time as an entrepreneur. That is the goal, right? I'm assuming that you want to maximize your time so that you can grow your company and make a bigger dent on the world. So lets look at some of the technology available to you.
Calendars and spreadsheets are the best thing that ever happened to me. I love making a list, planning out my day, week and month. I love the magic of spreadsheets and equations. I pat myself on the back for being so awesomely organized--especially when I can check everything off my to-do list for the day...
Which means, when I don’t check everything off my to-do list I feel a bit like a failure. You know what I mean? Why do we over-plan, expect perfection and kill ourselves to impress our peers and employees with our extra-super-powerful-ninja-time-management skills? I sort of need a daily reminder that multitasking is a myth, less is more and that busy is my worst enemy--not a trophy to display at social gatherings.

You probably don't know this about me, but it's true: I'm a card magician.
It's something that I've kept hidden for years. Almost like a habit that's been put into remission. A few months ago, I got tired of walking past a deck of cards and promising myself that I would pick them up once I got finished with my work.
It's painful when you deny yourself of something that you truly love. Regardless of the excuse we rely on, we all have a passion we have muted.
One day I finally picked up my cards and a flood of guilt washed through me. And then I dismissed the feeling. My passion shouldn't make me feel guilt. It should make me feel extreme happiness.
So I jumped off the cliff.Continue Reading

Have you ever put off your ambitions because you were too tired? Of course you have. You're human. I know that I have. I'm the kind of person that want's to do something really great in life, and it's frustrating when I don't feel up to the task.
Today we're going to talk about how to wake up early and have more energy. I've found the world's foremost experts on sleep and we're going to pick their brains.Continue Reading
Typical day: I’m all geared up and ready to attack my tasks head on. I've got a jam-packed week and there’s no time to spare. But how is it that I find myself at the end of each day with little accomplished and a lot left on my plate? Because I didn't pencil in time for my vices and guilty pleasures.Continue Reading
